Bees live in a variety of different habitats. You can help out by making sure you have a sunny patch of soil for soil-loving bees and by leaving twigs, stems, branches, and untreated wood around your garden for bees who like to live in cavities and pithy stems.
You can also help bees by making a bee bath. Line a shallow bowl with pebbles, twigs, and a few larger rocks. Then, fill it with water, making sure that the larger rocks stay dry so the bees can safely land to drink.
